
Ravinda Herath is one of the core founders of LEVENS International Foundation and appointed as the Chairman. Ravinda has 18 years’ experience working on international development, disasters management, Insurance and risk management and climate change. He is a pioneer in introducing weather Index insurance concept in Sri Lanka. Also, he is an expert of developing micro insurance products, focusing on improved access to insurance considering weather risks and natural disasters in the country. Moreover, he had been a trainer in the field of social and livelihood development of rural mass in Sri Lanka. Ravinda has been invited as the country representative for many international conferences and has shared his knowledge and experience as a panelist. Specific area of his multi-disciplined knowledge consists of, livelihood and rural development, index insurance, disaster management, business development in MSME sector and the project management. During his stay with leading micro-insurance companies of the country, he has been exposed to the grounds of micro insurance by guiding and managing several projects related to enhancing outreach for weather index insurance. Further he has taken initiatives in developing insurance products to small and medium sized enterprises. Ravinda graduated from the University of Wayamba and specialized in Agri-Business Management. Subsequently he obtained the Post Graduate Diploma in Management at the University of Rajarata. Also, he holds an MBA at the University of Bolton (UK) and insurance diploma at Charted Insurance Institute – UK.
